Rahul Mahajan is one of those few journalists who started his career in TV journalism since the inception of private news channels in the country. Although Rahul Mahajan has achieved the echelon of success in TV journalism, still he finds satisfaction in conversing with aspiring young journalists and enlightening them on true values of journalism.
Mr. Rahul Mahajan has been in the field of journalism for the last 23 years. During his tenure, he has worked on every aspect of TV journalism be it reporting from the field or conceptualization and execution of audio-visual programs to managing the commercial aspect of a TV station. Having worked with the reputed Media Organisations like Jansatta and TV channels like "Zee News", "Aaj Tak", "Star News", "News 24" and "Doordarshan", he was entrusted with covering some very important areas like Prime Minister’s office, Ruling Party, Parliament, Defence and Foreign Affairs. As a reporter he specialised in covering the Prime Minister’s office, BJP, RSS, J&K (Anti-terror Operations) and Pakistan. He has been to Pakistan thrice and has covered various aspects of India-Pakistan relationship. As an editor in various channels and news management person he acquired the skill of managing news operations (Editorial and Technical) and leading a team of newsmen and women.
He played a pivotal role in establishing Star news and News24. Rahul has served as Senior Editor – Star News and Senior Executive Editor – News24. Rahul is known for launching news channels from scratch and making them successful. The credit of starting news channels like News24, E24, Darshan24, Bhaskar TV, and A1 TV goes to him. He has also contributed to the commercial and editorial success of Doordarshan Channels while working with Prasar Bharti as Editorial Advisor. At present, Mr. Mahajan is serving as Editor-In-Chief of the prestigious Rajya Sabha channel.
Rahul Mahajan hails from Shimla in Himachal Pradesh and has done his post-graduation in journalism from University of Himachal Pradesh.
